25 year crane structural assessments at Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, Tidbinbilla

Crane Care completed 25 year structural assessments on more than 20 crane and lifting assets at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex in Tidbinbilla, near Canberra.

The project involved detailed assessment of ageing crane and lifting equipment to determine its structural condition and identify defects, deterioration and areas requiring further investigation or rectification.

Working across more than 20 individual assets required careful planning and a consistent inspection process. Crane Care assessed each item of lifting equipment to establish its current condition and provide clear information about its ongoing serviceability and maintenance requirements.

The structural assessment process included detailed inspections of critical crane and lifting equipment components, with particular attention given to signs of fatigue, wear, corrosion, deterioration and other structural issues that can develop as equipment ages.

Where Crane Care identified potential defects or areas of concern, it documented the findings and provided engineering assessment support where further investigation was required.

Crane Care completed detailed reporting for the assessed assets, giving the facility clear documentation of equipment condition, identified defects, and recommended next steps.

Where required, Crane Care also provided recommendations for rectification, further engineering investigation and future lifecycle maintenance to help support the continued safe operation of the equipment.

By completing 25 year structural assessments across a large group of crane and lifting assets, Crane Care provided the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex with a detailed understanding of the condition of its ageing lifting equipment and the work required to support its ongoing operation.
