RMG crane high-voltage cable replacement at Pacific National, West Melbourne
Crane Care completed a high-voltage cable replacement on a Konecranes Rail Mounted Gantry crane at Pacific National’s Melbourne Freight Terminal in West Melbourne.
The project involved specialist electrical repair work on the RMG crane within an active freight and logistics environment, where careful planning and coordination were required to complete the work safely while limiting disruption to terminal operations.
Crane Care mobilised specialist technicians from Sydney to Melbourne to undertake the high-voltage cable replacement. The existing HV cable was removed from the Konecranes RMG crane before the replacement cable was installed and correctly routed through the crane system.
Crane Care then completed the required electrical works and high-voltage terminations to integrate the new cable with the existing crane equipment.
Following installation, the RMG crane electrical system was tested to confirm correct operation. Crane Care then completed commissioning before the crane was returned to operational service. Working within Pacific National’s busy freight terminal required close site coordination, safe work planning and efficient execution to minimise the impact of the maintenance work on freight operations.
By managing the specialist crane repair from removal of the existing cable through to electrical termination, testing and commissioning, Crane Care provided Pacific National with a complete high-voltage cable replacement solution.
This project demonstrates Crane Care’s capability to complete specialist crane repairs and electrical maintenance on large Rail Mounted Gantry cranes operating within demanding freight and industrial environments.
